African Igbo Pottery

The Igbo tribe is native to Nigeria which is located in Africa. Theres no exact date stating when the Igbo tribe was active making pottery. Its estimated they started making pottery around the time of 2000 B.C.

3 Key Points Of Interest

1.) These pieces have a lot of interesting three dimensional designs and texture that add a lot of character to the work.

2.) I really like the shape of the pots and how the bottom is big and round and the top is tall and thin.

3.) I find the patterns made with coils to be very interesting and a good focal point.

Observation’s on one of the Pieces

I found this piece eye catching because of the three dimensional patter throughout the pot. I also really like the use of the different colors making the patterns really pop.
